A Memorable Trip

Disney and a Hurricane

Our family loves art and storytelling and where else to see more of that than Disney?  We had the chance to enjoy Disney this last fall and it was remarkable.  Some of you might wonder about what we liked the best.  Here are just a few highlights:

The Food

We happened to be there for the food and wine festival, which is a must see if you can get there in the fall time.  Extra countries are added to the EPCOT world showcase and you have more food options that you can eat in a day…so we went three times!  If you have to know, it was the lamb chop from New Zealand that was the best food we had in EPCOT.  But a meal at Tiffins in the Animal Kingdom was the most artistic.  He is just one desert from that meal.

The Hurricane

I can’t recommend it more….get there for a hurricane.  Disney has closed only four days in their history and we were there for one of them.  But it was WAY overrated as a threat.  Keep in mind that Disney is very much in the center of the state.  The advantage after a hurricane is that the air is very dry and often a little cooler.  Two words that you rarely use to describe Florida weather.

A Little Sadness

There was a little sadness on our trip.  Of course, we didn’t want to leave but on top of that, one of my favorite memories as a kid of the parks was the Main Street Electric Light Parade.  For some reason, Disney has decided to end it after FORTY years.  We happened to be there for the last one.  The crowds were huge as locals piled in to see the final parade.  Here is an image from that parade.
